If you missed the Discovery Science Club this year, be on the lookout for our summer workshops! Topics and enrollment info. will be available to members in March, and non-members in April.

High School Biotech Academy - March 27, 2010 9am-1pm
New for 2009-2010-High School Biotechnology Academy-ages 15-18. High School students—do you love science?  Ever thought about how gene therapy, “frankenfoods”, or cloning might change the world?  Then you definitely want to attend this new academy!  By attending the Biotech Academy, you will get firsthand experience in molecular biology techniques, tour the new Center for Biomedical and Life Sciences at Jordan Valley Innovation Center, and talk with biomedical scientists.  And pizza!!  Cost is $40 per student and space is limited, so register early.

Robot Workshops
Child and parent duo enjoy an evening of fun and learning while building a robot you can take home.  Pre-registration and pre-payment required. 

• Aug. 14 (6-8 p.m.)-6 in 1 Solar kit-ages 6+ Cost-$15 per member parent/child duo, $20 per non-member parent/child duo, plus cost of robot ($15).
   
• Oct. 16 (6-8 p.m.)-Rockit Robot ($25) plus registration fees-ages 8+
   
• Jan. 22 (6-8 p.m.)-Turbo 3000 ($15) plus registration fees-ages 6+
   
• March 26 (6-8 p.m.)-4 in 1 Robot ($25) plus registration fees-ages 8+
   
• May 14 (6-8 p.m.)-Knight Invader ($15) plus registration fees-ages 6+
   

Summer Workshops
June 8-Aug. 5, 2010.  Topics will be announced in March, 2010.
Discovery Center of Springfield offers Sizzling Summer Workshops for children age 4 through 8th grade.  These workshops motivate children to learn, ask questions, and enrich their lives through hands-on activities.
