February 19, 2010 — Science Sprouts Museum Day
Science Sprouts Museum Day Topic is "I'm an Inventor" 9-5pm
Museum Days just for Early Childhood Learners (up to age 6). Includes special story time at 10am & 1pm and science presentations at 11am and 2pm geared to young learners. Groups may schedule 30 minute programs for an additional fee. For Kindergarten or 1st grade classes, MOPS groups, day care providers, preschools, playgroups and families. Explore the fun of science and science of fun. General admission applies.
Thursday, February 25, 2010 - College Night - 8-11pm.
Inviting all college students to enjoy an evening of Discovery. Discovery Center is all about "Life-long Learning." Bring your friends, show your student ID and get in at our group rate of $5.00 per person. HighWire bike is additional $2.00. For more information call 417-862-9910 Ext. 706.

Sunday, March 14, 2010 - 1-5pm Pi Day
Pi Day A variety of hands-on activities will be available for visitors to explore the concept of pi and circles. Activities include a scavenger hunt, building a pi line comprised of the digits in pi, an exploration area to discover the relationship between diameter and circumference, a "draw a perfect circle freehand" contest area, and for our 5 and under visitors, exploring the speed of rolling items, and a circle weaving project. General admission required. No preregistration required.

Friday, March 26, 2010 - Robot Workshop-6-8pm.
Encourage your child age 8+ to enjoy and build a robot. Pre-register for these popular classes is needed. Cost is for parent/child duo, plus cost of robot-$15 members/$20 non-members (Robot-4 in 1 Robot $25) ages 8+
Saturday, March 27, 2010 - Biotech Academy
9 a.m.-1 p.m.-High School students-do you love science?
Ever thought about how gene therapy, "frankenfoods", or cloning might change the world? Then you definitely want to attend this new academy! By attending the Biotech Academy, you will get firsthand experience in molecular biology techniques, tour the new Center for Biomedical and Life Sciences at Jordan Valley Innovation Center, and talk with biomedical scientists. And pizza!! Cost is $40 per student and space is limited, so register early.

Wednesday, April 7, 2010 - Nano Tech Day. 9:00 am - 5:00pm.
Imagine if you can a world around us that few have seen and fewer can grasp the impact it has on our everyday lives. Nanotechnology is not necessarily a new concept, but it is one that frequently goes unrecognized by the general public. A variety of activities will be available that were developed by The Franklin Institute and NISE (Nanoscale Informal Science Education) Network. Come and learn about the new and exciting things that are happening in the world of Nanotech. Be sure to join us for an exploration of the latest in this rapidly developing field of science! General admission to the center applies. Admission hours are 9:00am-5:00pm.
Thursday, April 8 - 4-6pm - After-school professional development workshop on nanotechnology for secondary educators.
This would be used to provide each participating teacher with a kit of materials to take back to their classrooms that would enable them to replicate the activities with their students. Pre-registration and pre-payment required. Cost-$40 per teacher. Call 417-862-9910 Ext. 706 to register.

Saturday, April 17, 2010 - Celebrate Earth Day
Free Admission - Event Sponsored by Partnership for Sustainability
Celebrating Earth Day by enjoying hands on activities and demonstrations. Plus enjoy the Discovery Center of Springfield's hands-on exhibits and walk through the LEED Gold Certified "green" building and find the "green" signage and see how you can make a difference. April 18 - 24, 2010 - Volunteer Appreciation Week - "Celebrating People in Action"
Discovery Center is overseen by a volunteer Board of Directors, has over 60 volunteers per week assisting with exhibit and event planning, exhibit building, visitor facilitation and much more. Over 10,000 volunteer hours a year assist the staff in educating and entertaining the visitors. We Celebrate these People in Action.
Sunday, April 25, 2010 - DNA DAY
1-5 pm Discovery Center of Springfield celebrates DNA Day, Sunday, April 25th.
The anniversary of the discovery of DNA is celebrated by work projects, educational activities, exhibits, and fun for all ages. Plan to give blood that day from 12:00-6:00pm. Community Blood Center Blood Mobile will be parked in the Discovery Center parking lot. General admission to the center applies. Admission hours are 9:00am-5:00pm.
