Sponges
In this Constructed Response Item for grades 6–8, you will consider whether sponges should be placed in the plant kingdom or the animal kingdom. You'll name at least two characteristics that seem to justify placing sponges in each of the two kingdoms, and then you'll identify which classification is more correct and explain why.
