Saturday, January 24, 2015 - Scout Night at the Museum 6:30-9:00pm - Activity stations available to support a variety of achievements and badge requirements. No pre-registration required. Cost is Non-member Scouts $12, Adults $7. DCS Member Scouts $7, Adults Free. Additional non-scout children will be charged general admission of $8.
Thursday, January 29, 2015 - Museum After Dark - 21 & Older - 6:30-9:30pm - We invite all adults to celebrate fun and learning. The entire museum will be open, including a cash bar and musical talent by Dallas Jones! DCS Members are Free, non-members are $10 per adult. Must be 21 & Older.
Saturday January 31, 2015 9am-12pm- Science Behind Couponing - We are sorry for the inconvenience but this class has been cancelled. We will reschedule with a later date. Thank you for your interest.
Friday, February 6, 2015 - First Friday ArtWalk 6-10pm - Discovery Center Lobby- Meet Scott Sauer, of Scottoons. He creates things to make people smile. He will demonstrate cartooning during the evening.
Monday, February 16, 2015 - President's Day Holiday Open while celebrating Chinese New Year - Year of the Sheep 9-5pm - Learn about Chinese New Year with hands-on activities and demonstrations that will enhance the understanding of Chinese culture. General Admission Applies.
Friday, February 20, 2015 - Science Sprout Day - 9am-6pm - The 3rd Friday of each month from now until February we invite all young learners up to age 6 to learn, explore and discover a different topic each month. February's Theme is Wild Weather. Enjoy story time with Park Central Library 10am-1pm and special science demonstrations at 11am & 2pm. General Admission applies.
Saturday February 21, 2015 - Seuss Science Day Sponsored by Children's Mercy Hospital and Ozarks Public Television 9am-6pm $7.00 per person.
Ozarks Public Television and Mercy Kids-Springfield are excited to announce plans to celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday in southwest Missouri. The feature event is the Seuss Science Day sponsored by Mercy Kids. It will take place at Discovery Center of Springfield on February 21st with a visit from the Cat in the Hat! On this special day, guests can take advantage of reduced admission to Discovery Center of $7 per person (kids 2 & under are free, DCS Members Free and OPTV Kids Club members free). Kids will have a chance to hear Dr. Seuss stories including Cat in the Hat, Horton Hear a Who, Bartholomew and the Ooblek, The Lorax, The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins. Guests can also take part in Seuss-themed activities that relate to each of the books. The Cat in the Hat will greet guests and pose for photos. Pi Beta Phi Alumnae Club will hand-out free children books to the first 500 kids (one per child). Activities are scheduled from 10am-4pm and Discovery Center will be open during normal business hours from 9am-6pm.
Saturday, February 28, 2015 - DIY Workshop - Build your own Terrarium! These workshops will introduce parent/child duos to skills that involve making or creating something! Our DCS educators will demonstrate the basics, and then you get to put the skills to work to make something unique! Scientist's Terrarium - Use an Erlenmeyer Flask to build your own terrarium! Ages 5+ Workshop times: 10am-12pm or 1pm-3pm
Pre-registration is required: DCS Members Parent/Child duo $45; Non-members $50 parent/child duo. This is not a drop off class.
Mestival 2015 - Spring Break Celebration - March 9-12 and March 16-19
Art and science meet for our Spring Break event! Explore your artistic side by participating in painting projects, sculpting with homemade playdough, or trying your hand at sewing. You can leave your mark on Discovery Center Springfield by adding to our Messtival 2015 banner during your visit with us!
