Tuesday, December 2, 2014 - National Day of Giving - #GivingTuesday - Discovery Center is participating in the National Day of Giving.  There are a variety of levels that you can give that will support STEM education.

Thursday, December 4, 2014 10am-2pm - Orion Launch Watch - Join DCS as we replay the launch and splashdown of the next phase of space travel! Orion is the first flight test sending an unmanned spacecraft 3600 miles into Earth's orbit.  It is the first step in future missions to explore deep space.  Additional activites from NASA will be available to celebrate this historical event! General Admission applies.

Friday, December 5, 2014 - First Friday ArtWalk 6-10pm - Discovery Center will feature students and staff from Ozarks Technical Community College. OTC's Honors World Music Students will highlight sustainability by showcasing musical instruments they built out of recycled materials.  Also guests can enjoy Frontiers of Exploration: The World's Fairs. Travel back in time while also jumping into the future when visiting OTC's World Fairs exhibit. Discovery Center thanks the following OTC departments that are presenting this exciting First Friday Art Walk: Phi Theta Kappa, OTC Fine Arts, OTC Culinary Department, OTC Honors World Music Department.

Friday, December 19, 9am-6pm- Science Sprout Day - The 3rd Friday of each month from now till February we invite all young learners up to age 6 to learn, explore and discover a different topic each month.  December's theme is Winter Wonderland.  Enjoy story time with Park Central Library 10am & 1pm and a special science demonstration at 11am & 2pm. General Admission applies.

Tuesday December 31, 2014 10am-12pm - Rootin'-Tootin' Noon Year's Eve - Count down to 12 noon for all little ones.  Is your bedtime too early to watch the ball drop or countdown to 2015? Then come join us for a Rootin' Tootin' countdown in DCS auditorium.  Crafts, line dancing, and countdown at 12:00pm.  General Admission applies, plus $3 per child that participates. Adults are FREE.

Friday, January 2, 2015 - First Friday ArtWalk 6-10pm - Start 2015 in shades of green! Join us in our lobby from 6-10pm for some recycled art activities, or do some weaving on our giant loom! Bring along your Christmas cards and use them to create something new!

Saturday, January 10, 2015 Robot Workshop EM$ Robot age 6+ - Robot Workshops continue to be a great learning adventure for both parents and children.  Pre-registration and pre-payment required.  Choose from morning or afternoon workshop.  Cost is $40 member parent/child duo OR $45 non-member parent/child duo.  Register now on-line.  Includes cost of materials.

Saturday, January 24, 2015 - Scout Night at the Museum 6:30-9:00pm - Activity stations available to support a variety of achievements and badge requirements.  No pre-registration required.  Cost is Non member Scouts $12, Adults $7. DCS Member Scouts $7, Adults Free.  Additional non-scout children will be charged general admission of $8.

Thursday, January 29, 2015 - Museum After Dark - 21 & Older. We invite all adults to celebrate fun and learning.  The entire museum will be open, including a cash bar.  DCS Members are Free, non-members are $10 per adult.  Must be 21 & Older.

Saturday January 31, 2015 9am-12pm- Science Behind Couponing - Is your goal for 2015 to save money? Want to learn how to get started with couponing? Join us at DCS to learn about cost savings strategies for the average houshold and hands-on practice. Get advice from Karen Brown, professional trainer and expert couponer/deal finder with more than 30 years experience. Pre-registration and pre-payment required.  DCS Members $25, Non Members $30. No childcare available. Adult event only. You can register on-line through our workshop form or contact Guest Services at 417-862-9910 Ext 706 with further questions. Refunds or credits will be issued only in the case of an emergency or if the workshop is canceled.
