Friday, October 3, 2014 - First Friday ArtWalk 6om-10pm - DCS partnering with OTC Fine Art Students to build a recycled creation in the lobby.
Thursday, October 16, 2014 - Science Cafe - 6:30-8:00pm at Mille's Cafe "Maroon Never Looked So Green—Sustainable Practices at Missouri State University!” Energy reduction….carbon footprint….waste reduction….conservation….common terms we’re familiar with, but what do they look like in action? And what do they look like in a college setting? Join us for a behind the scenes view of several of the practices put into place by Missouri State University staff, and the outcomes of some simple practices that anyone can implement at home. From energy management to reducing your carbon “foodprint”, Pilar Karlen and Tony Hein will share ways MSU is emphasizing green!

October theme is Fizzing & Foaming - Chemistry Fun. Enjoy story time with Park Central Library 10am & 1pm and a special science demonstration at 11am & 2pm. General Admission applies. Friday, October 24, 2014 - Halloween Night at the Museum - 6:30-9:30pm - Come join the Halloween fun Discovery Center style. All ages wear your costume and explore the museum, visit a variety of science activity stations floating, flaming, sparking, sliming - a night of scientific fun for the whole family. Expect the unexpected! This has become the most exciting halloween event in the region. Admission: adults & children, $10 non-members, $7 members, free children 2 & under.
Friday, November 7, 2014 - Friday Night Art Walk 6-10pm -Discovery Center and OTC Fine Arts Dept to bring interactive art and sustainability. Join Kat Allie, OTC professor of Fine Art, as she demonstrates Encaustic painting. Encaustic painting, also known as hot wax painting, involves using heated beeswax. Experience art and nature during Friday Night Art Walk in Discovery Center lobby.
Saturday, November 8, 2014 - Opening of 50 years of Wilderness Through the Lens of Missouri's 8 Wilderness Areas - This photography exhibit celebrates the 50th anniversary of the federal Wilderness Act with a photo journey to the eight Missouri Wilderness areas. Photographic images by Richard Spener and Toni Armstrong will inform, excite and inspire visitors to learn more about our state's treasured wilderness.
Saturday, November 15, 2014 - America Recycles Day 9am-6pm Free Admission.
Visit with community representatives who specialize in recycling, spend some time in our Build-A-Car area and try to create something new from recycled materials. Enjoy the current eco-zibt, Green Revolution, and the new photography exhibit, 50 years of Wilderness Through the Lens of Missouri's 8 Wilderness areas.

Saturday, November 22, 2014 - 29th Annual Festival of Trees Benefit for Discovery Center. This event will be located at the Old Glass Place across the street from Discovery Center. 6:30pm enjoy cocktails silent auction, featuring themed baskets by DCS Stocking Stars. Dinner and live auction and dancing with Bella Donna. Live auction items include: 2 Maroon5 tickets at the Sprint Center, beautiful decorated Christmas trees and more.
