We are happy to announce Rob Blevins as our new Executive Director.
“I’m thrilled to be joining such a vital organization for the development of our youth,” said Rob Blevins, Executive Director. “For a lot of kids growing up in the Ozarks, the world isn’t a beautiful place at all. It’s not knowing where their next meal is coming from. It’s not knowing that adults shouldn’t hurt you emotionally or physically. But, for the kids coming into the Center, they get to discover that our world is truly and immensely beautiful. I’m humbled to be a part of that discovery.”
Rob is a well-known face in the nonprofit world as a presenter at the Midwest Center for Nonprofit Leadership Conference, the Drury Nonprofit Communication Conference, and the Ozark Food Harvest Annual Member Conference. He comes to the Discovery Center with a wealth of experience in leadership and public relations, most recently with Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ozarks (BBBSO) as their Vice President of Community Engagement. His expertise in marketing, volunteer recruitment, and business relationships has driven the BBBSO team to win national awards, including the National Agency of the Year Award in 2016, the Pinnacle Award as a Top 7 Performing Agency in Quality and Growth in 2017, and the Social Media Award in 2017.
As an active member of Springfield Sertoma, Rob has worked on the Sertoma Chili Cook Off, Wingapalooza, Cashew Craze, and Springfield Prom, which is an event he created in 2015. He is also a member of the Ozark Education Committee, the Bancorp South Community Action Committee, the Simmons Bank Community Advisory Committee, and the Springfield Business Journal’s 40 under 40 Class of 2017.
Karen Brown, Board President, echoes the Board of Director’s excitement in saying, “We are thrilled that Rob will be the new Executive Director! His experience, skills, and passion will be a real asset to the Discovery Center and we look forward to working with him.”
Rob is the third Executive Director in Discovery Center history, following former Executive Directors Meleah Spencer and founder Emily Fox.
