Home School Resources

Homeschool families-We have a variety of options available to support the science instruction you offer at home!  Consider the following resources we have available:

Become Members and Utilize our resources.  Many are listed below:

Museum exploration-the variety of content and concepts in our galleries make a visit to DCS the perfect enhancement for your science curriculum.  Enhance your museum visit even further by visiting during one of our special event days scheduled throughout the year-Nano-technology, DNA, pi, astronomy, the environment, culture...be on the lookout for special event days that can be used to supplement your curriculum!

DCS Book Club-available each month to support content reading.  Use our list, or find your own titles that correlate to the monthly Exploratory Lab theme.  Come in at any time during the month and do the lab activities, get your book club card punched, and maybe earn a prize!

Science Sprout Museum Days-Because we believe you're never too young (or too old) to learn science, we have set aside days dedicated to our early learners.  If you have a child from birth to age 6, our Science Sprout Museum Days are just for you!  No field trips will be scheduled for groups over the age of 6, so you don't have to worry about your 2 year old getting run over by a group of rambunctious 12 year olds!  Our BrainByte demonstrations will be geared specifically to early learners, with a different topic each month.  Be sure to join us for Science Story times at 10a.m. and 1 p.m., only available on Science Sprout Museum Days.  Check Science Sprout Museum link for days and themes.

Workshops - Discovery Center offers a variety of workshops from our Robot Workshop and Dissection Workshops which encourage a child/parent duo family learning opportunity to our Summer Workshops which is drop off situation with a variety of themes to choose from.

Co-op classes-DCS can bring a one hour, hands-on, inquiry based science lesson to a site of your choice!  Gather a group of 10 or more similar-aged students, choose your topic, make your reservation, and you're done!  One of our highly qualified DCS educators will come out and teach the lesson-parents can sit and watch the learning occur!  Over 20 different topics and age levels are available from which to choose.
