Energy Exchange

EnergyExchange is on the first floor of our new building. Explore simple machines, convert energy from potential to kinetic to mechanical to electrical with your own body power, and explore how different engines use and create energy in the main exhibit hall.

Also in EnergyExchange, visit the WaterTable, where you'll get a little wet and have lots of fun as you explore waves and water flow, turn the archimedes screws to activate the water wheel, and hand crank the water-bucket conveyor belt.

Upstairs, you can experience the HighWire Bike. Are you ready to interact with this daring exhibit? Pedal your way across the high wire 15 feet above the floor on our new HighWire Bike. The 225 pound counter-weight should give you the courage you need: it dangles below the bike to keep you from falling entirely off of the wire. But how far do you dare to tip from one side to the other?
