Each of the 40 Under 40 honorees this year are being recognized for their outstanding accomplishments in their fields, and we know that they would not be where they are today without educational support and a community of family, friends, and teachers believing in their potential.
40 Under 40 Honoree James Stevens of Dog Gone Mold Springfield Inc. LLC believes that “teaching people, especially children while they are young, how things work and why they work is very important. I think we take for granted how blessed we are with being able to flip a light switch on and have all the light we need…I believe teaching people how that works, the whole process of something we find as simple as a light bulb lighting up is important. It might help keep us grounded, have more respect for other professions, and see the beauty in things that wouldn’t be here without the education and learning behind it all.” James is raising funds on behalf of the Discovery Center and is asking for your help.
The Discovery Center of Springfield is your nonprofit (501(c)(3), community-funded science center that turns playing today into leading tomorrow’s workforce through hands-on, experiential learning. The Discovery Center creates our future nurses, manufacturing professionals, engineers, computer scientists—some of the very careers featured on this year’s 40 under 40 list. The Discovery Center is a place where children growing up or living in poverty find hope. They are a vital part of our community’s economic health because the Discovery Center gives visitors the tools they need to determine their own future regardless of socioeconomic status.
