After 11 years of showcasing cultures from around the world, the Discovery Center has retired the WorldWise gallery located on the fourth floor of the West Building.
The WorldWise Gallery helped individuals to acquire the knowledge, attitude, and skills needed to function in a culturally and racially diverse world. WorldWise represented six countries: Mexico, the Chad Region of Africa, the Netherlands, China, Japan, and Peru. Each country booth contained facts, toys, and books from the corresponding countries to help explain the traditions and culture of the corresponding countries.
The gallery closed officially in May for renovations, and with the help of United Way Day of Caring volunteers on Thursday, June 28 was transformed to allow the Center to expand their educational programming and rental opportunities. With an unobstructed view of downtown Springfield, the Center hopes to pair unique hands-on STEM learning with incredible views of the Queen City. More information on rental opportunities, including updates on the new fourth floor space, will be available at discoverycenter.org
